In Cross Country you can run, improve, feel good about yourself, make new friends, and learn to compete. This is a sport for everyone. No matter what your physical abilities, you can get in shape, and be a valuable member of our team.
The Oak Grove Cross Country team prides itself of being a group of hard-working, polite, intelligent, caring and competitive athletes. The parents, coaches, and community expect the best behavior from team members during meets and practices. Coaches and teammates are expected to be encouraging and positive to one another. The coaches want to develop life-long runners, promote a healthy lifestyle, develop individuals with good character, make running enjoyable, and have individual and team success. The coaches value the first runner to cross the line and the last runner to cross the line equally.
The properly trained cross country runner or endurance athlete needs to develop all areas of their body in order to become the best possible athlete they can. To develop a high standard of fitness, we will be training using a mixture of:

... sectionals?
We choose the top seven girls and the top seven boys to run in sectionals based on time, attendance, attitude and character. We pick alternates based on time, attendance, attitude, character AND seniority!
... state?
The runners & alternates submitted into the sectional team roster can be the ONLY athletes at state. Any combination of runners/alternates may participate. Runners must qualify for state at sectionals.
