Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Please help us celebrate the OGS team by encouraging your students to take a moment to write a note, draw a picture or send an email to their amazing Oak Grove teachers. SEL News
Community is this month’s theme. We have an amazing community here at Oak Grove. In SEL class we had a community/team building challenge this week. In 2 minutes or less we had to come up with as many songs as we could that have the word friend in it. We also had 3 super fun SEL Soaring Eagle Assemblies! Students were recognized for some pretty amazing accomplishments.

We are also proud of students taking control of their emotions and becoming better problem solvers. Kindergarten through fifth grade students have been working hard on creating a tool to solve problems. Oftentimes, if we can just remember to breathe we can activate our upstairs brain and think of our own solutions. We reflected on times we went to an adult and were disappointed by their solution. This tool invites both sides to recognize the problem, identify the size of problem, brainstorm multiple solutions and more. Oak Grove provides many ways for students to get help if they need it be it in person, during indoor recess, through clever, email etc. It has been my experience that students are using their voice when they feel it is a size 3 or higher problem. We hope that you see these results at home as well.

7th Grade Science

Mrs. Pusateri’s class enjoyed a visit from one of our own, Derek Hillard, who shared his passion for apple trees.  Derek is the head of the buildings and grounds department and showed the students how he graphs the apple tree cuttings to the apple root stock.  The students really enjoyed learning about how these graphs will eventually grow into full size trees in their new home in northern Wisconsin.
