Weekly Update - 11/06/23

Mr. MurrayMessage from the Principal

What a week celebrating and recognizing our students! The K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 Soaring Eagles! assemblies were a hit including a performance from the symphonic band, appearances by the eagle mascot, and lots of fun games that both students and staff took part in. We love finding ways to recognize all the good that our students do on a daily basis, and we are so proud of their accomplishments. Keep it up, Grovers!

Student Council food driveStudent Council Collection - November
Oak Grove Student Council will be collecting gently used clothing for our Tree Machine during the month of November. We ask that all students bring in one gently used article of clothing to their homeroom. The Student Council will come around and collect the items for our Tree Machine that is located outside of the school building. Thank you so much for your support.

Mental Health Minute
The theme for November is Empathy. Empathy is an important interpersonal skill that is defined as understanding how other people feel even when they don't feel the same way as themselves. Studies have shown that genuine empathy begins to develop in children as young as two years old. During preschool, a child’s ability to empathize with others grows. Listening skills, responding to others’ feelings, understanding of different feelings, and friendships develop.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee - Family Survey
During the 2020-21 school year, Oak Grove families, students and staff were asked for their feedback in regards to equity and inclusion practices at Oak Grove. The information shared from the survey helped to guide the mission, vision and focus of the current DEI committee. We are reaching out to our families, staff and students again to complete the survey in order to see the impact of our efforts over the past two years and develop future areas of focus. Please take a moment to complete this survey by November 17. The DEI committee appreciates your time and values your feedback.
