About Artificial Intelligence (AI)
AI Guiding Principles
These guiding principles and commitments ensure Oak Grove School District 68 approaches AI with intention and alignment to our values, serving as a compass for decisions, learning, and reflection as technology evolves.
1. Human-Centered AI: People and relationships remain at the heart of learning. AI enhances teaching and learning but never replaces human connection, creativity, or judgment.
2. Deep Learning & Critical Thinking: AI supports rigorous, authentic learning and problem-solving, strengthening creativity, critical thinking, and whole-child development.
3. Empowerment, Not Replacement: AI expands possibilities, personalizes learning, and supports efficiency while keeping student voice and personal growth and development central.
4. Safety & Responsible Use: Student safety, privacy, and well-being come first. AI use will meet high ethical standards, follow the principle of do no harm and be transparent to our community.
5. Equity & Access: AI will be used to expand opportunities, remove barriers, and ensure every stakeholder has access to engaging, inclusive experiences.
6. Critical AI Literacy: All stakeholders will build the skills to understand, question, and use AI responsibly and ethically.
7. Ongoing Reflection & Refinement: Our approach will adapt as technology and needs evolve, ensuring AI remains safe, relevant, and aligned to our mission.
