PaCE Framework

The Postsecondary and Career Expectations (PaCE) framework is designed as a roadmap to guide Illinois students from sixth grade through graduation. It provides developmentally appropriate goals and experiences at each stage of their education to help them make informed decisions about their future opportunities. By following this framework, students gain the tools and confidence to set a clear direction for life after high school.

In middle school, PaCE emphasizes exploration and self-reflection. Students are encouraged to explore different careers, reflect on their personal strengths, and begin setting goals for their future. The framework highlights three key areas (Aspiration, Self-Advocacy, and Planning) helping students build the skills needed to dream big, speak up for themselves, and take intentional steps toward success. To support this process, the SchoolLinks platform will be used as a resource to track progress and connect learning experiences to students’ long-term goals.
