About STEM
STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) courses were added to Oak Grove's many options for student rotations in school year 2022-2023. Mr. Dan Henneberry teaches exploratory STEM to first grade, third grade, and fifth grade, and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) to sixth and seventh grade. Students in second grade, fourth grade, and eighth grade have an opportunity to engage in STEM focused design and engineering practices in another avenue: through the Library Media Centers. Oak Grove continues to build its STEM program allowing students to engage in critical thinking, collaboration, and the engineering design process.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW)
Sixth and seventh grade students engage in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) for one quarter during the school year. They explore a variety of modules through a course titled Medical Detectives. Students play the role of real-life medical detectives as they analyze genetic testing results to diagnose disease and study DNA evidence found at a “crime scene.”
